About Me
- Kathleen Arends
- I've been at OWS since fall of 1995, and I teach music classes for OWS kindergartners through fourth-graders. I'm certified in all three levels and Master Class in the Orff approach to music education, which uses speech, lots of movement, and mallet instruments as well as singing and listening. I also play oboe (rarely), recorders (all the time! I met my husband playing recorders, and we play in small ensembles with friends) and African-style marimba (as brought to the Pacific Northwest by Dumisani Maraire).
